Organize - Start with a plan
Help your child organize his afternoon and evening everyday. As soon as your child arrives home from school help him make a plan for that evening. Review the homework plan (time and place) that you agreed upon.
If you don’t see your child until you get home from work, leave a checklist on the table that he can use to organize the evening.
Checklist
What do I have for homework?
When do I start my homework?
What other activities do I have this evening?
Do I have all the materials and supplies I need to do my homework?
Do I need to adjust my schedule in any way this evening?
What time is dinner?

Do you have a young adult, 18 or older, with special needs who would like to be part of a group that will be involved in service projects and some social outings? A Fun Recipe for Kids

Thanksgiving Muffins

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
Dash of salt

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a medium bowl combine the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a hold in the middle of the dry ingredients and add the buttermilk, oil, egg, and orange peel. Stir until just moistened. Gently fold in the cranberries. Spoon the batter into paper muffin cups or directly into greased and floured muffin pans, filling 3/4 full. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Yield: 24 muffins
